I know what a daunting and worrying
prospect the thought of taking full responsibility of your child's
education is. I understand that many new home-educators have a
million questions to ask and a dozen or more fears to discuss.
Fellow home-educators are a wonderful support network. The internet is a great resource and you can gain access to forums and websites that may help you at the beginning of your home-education journey. But what if you want some real-life help? What happens if you don't know anyone in your area? What if you don't want to burden your (often new found) friends with your questions. What if they have a different home-education style ideal to your own and you don't feel you want go down the same route? What if you feel you are being a nuisance with your constant questioning? That's where I can help. My own home-education experience started 8 years ago. With children now aged 15,13, 9, 6 and 11 months old, I envisage home-educating for many years to come. I have tried many methods, from unschooling/autonomous/child led, through to emulating school at home. I have created structured, timetabled days, and experienced the more go with the flow type of days. One important thing I have learnt is that all families are different. All children are different. The beauty of home-education is that we can individually cater to our children's needs. But do you know where to start?
